Letter From The President:

When you join a Union, you gain the right to have a voice in decisions about your work life such as: wages, benefits and career. The Collective Bargaining process puts you across the table from Management as an equal.  This was never truer for members of Local 1000 in 2009, Unit Parts and North Richland Hills Members were able to achieve and ratify Collective Bargaining Agreements which secured their wages, healthcare and working conditions for the next three to four years.  Now Kroger is faced with renegotiating their contract which has multiple issues on the table such as, claiming problems, grievances, scheduling of hours, health and welfare and most importantly pension.  The members of Kroger have elected an outstanding Committee, along with their help and knowledge I am optimistic that we will negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement that addresses the members concerns.

Be on the lookout for Proposal Meeting notices, which are your opportunity to elect your negotiating committee and voice your opinions on what you would like to see, improved in the next Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Don't forget to attend your quarterly membership meeting, this is where you have the opportunity to ask questions, raise issues and get involved with your Local Union.  This publication will be our official notification to the membership, so be sure to check your mail and be on the lookout for your quarterly newsletter.  Until the next time, take care and be safe.
